Baptism Of New Converts At Batonu (Nigeria) |
At the time God was revealing the reason ("those of you who are saved, arise to take the same gospel to distant places") for His two Visitations to Nigeria, He placed it in the hearts of so many people, churches (denominations) and many others to be willing to receive this challenge. It was at this particular time that "Ethnos Christian Missions" came to being. Ethnos is a Greek word for ‘ethnic group’ which we can as well call nations.
Our progress
Our work started among the Ohoris in Koomi land, but today it has extended to twelve tribes in five Nations. The progress was not easy because it does not have the support of any local church per se; no major support from abroad and just few people were used by God for the great progress. In this was God’s faithfulness and goodness demonstrated. At the inception, there was no assurance that financial support would come, but the organization realized that the work must be done. The commitment and boldness of the few that faced the work are highly appreciated.
Our vision
We set our eyes on the unreached, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death and to see that New Testament church life, principle and practice are established.
Our mission
Our mandate is to preach the gospel of Christ where there is no gospel; cause the light of life to shine wherever there is darkness of sin and through discipleship, plant New Testament Churches where we can raise the local church leaders.
Our team
Our team comprises of the chairman, board of trustees, the Executive members, the board members, the prayer partners, financial partners, the missionaries, co-operating churches and friends.
Our challenges
The first challenge of this work is insufficient faithful workers; imagine just few people in the
pool of great work, is just like a drop of water in a cistern.
Secondly, we do not have adequate financial support. Today, the battle within the Christendom is
between mansion and mission Christians. The mansion Christians find it difficult to support mission,
because the result is based only on reports and not what can be seen by sight. But let us ask ourselves,
which one has eternal value; the mansion or the mission? Mansion is building of edifice,
but mission is all about building men for the kingdom. Supporting mission has eternal value,
because man is the one going to heaven not edifice.
Another challenge is that of Lucifer, "who made the world as a wilderness and destroyed its cities,
who would not release his prisoners" (Isa 14:17). This challenge is the most threatening one being
faced by the mission, for countless are the attacks in gentile land.
Out target
We set the goal of reaching five tribes in South Sudan, Burkina-faso, Mali, Republic of Benin, and Nigeria with the gospel of Christ, by the year 2015.
Is there anything you can do? Yes! Join us.
For as long as this organisation works with a vision of "Church in conformity with New Testament", we decided to see the Church in line with the New Testament pattern. That is, a Church where Christ is "The Head", without anyone setting him/herself in-between Jesus and His Church; a Church where there is no denominationalism/tribalism; a Church where each member uses his or her gift(s), where there is no spectator; a Church where everyone is a true disciple; a Church where the name is not patterned after a denomination, but named after the place where she finds herself as was the practice in the Bible. In our effort to fulfil our God-given Vision - Church amidst other tribes (the unreached places), our work started in the year 1986, and we are still working among various tribes in Nigeria and abroad till today. The various fields we have reached are listed below and the descriptions of some of them follow after.
