Missionary At Ayogo (Benin Republic) And The Converts |
The Location:
Ayogo/Agonlin is located in Zou region of Republic of Benin along the way from Ketu to Boichon. It has two groups of people that settled there. These are Ayogo from Oyo in Nigeria and the Fon. The two groups lay claim to being the original indigene of the land. The town is called by the name of the people. It is the Fon tribe that nickname the Yorubas, Ayogo. However, the Yoruba language spoken by the Ayogo people has been mixed with Fon.

The Targeted tribe
Our target is both tribes. The practice of witchcrafts is an open practice in Ayogo land. There is no shame in calling oneself a witch. This has stood as an open challenge to the gospel.
The Commencement of the work
After the tribe has been discovered to be unreached, a missionary couple was sent there on January 6th, 2003. And a team of men followed for an open air crusade in February 2003. A local Church has been planted at Ayogo and effort is on to reach villages around Agonlin and presently there is breakthrough in six villages which are ripped for Church establishment.

The type of Work
Our work here is discipleship, raising leaders and Church Planting. The work is progressing, for there is evidence of that in the local Church at Ayogo.
The Challenges
The challenges facing the missionary in this area are two-fold. They come mainly as language barrier and spiritual attack from witches who are threatening the missionary and creating fear in the lives of the converts.
