Missionary At Tanguieta And Converts

The Location:

The tribe called Natimba is located in Atacora region of the Northern part of Republic of Benin. Their major city is Tanguita. Several languages and tribes call this place their principal city. They all have representatives in the city and this made it difficult to have a specific language, but French is used to transact business. The town (Tanguita) is also linked to Bukina-faso. This attracts more tribes from other countries in the West Africa sub-region.

The Targeted tribe

Our main target is the Natimba tribe of the northern part of Republic of Benin. This tribe is very difficult when it comes to changing their hearts. This is because of what they have given their lives to; idolatry, drunkenness and all forms of filthiness.


The Commencement of the work

After the research work we discovered that this tribe needed the light of gospel. We took a step to send a missionary to the field in the year 1998 (31st January, 1998). But after three years we asked the missionary to come home in order to plan for his marriage, which also took about five years. After this, the work started afresh in June 2005.

The Nature Of The Work

Discipleship, raising leaders and Church Planting are the main target of our work among the Natimba. But the work has not been able to achieve any major breakthrough among the Natimba as it is having on other tribes. Local Churches are now in Tanguita and Namoni, but the tribe in Namoni is Burubas.

The Challenges

The challenges include the high level of spiritual insensitivity of our targeted tribe. This is complicated by their acts of idolatry, drunkenness and the varieties of the Tanguita dialect. Another challenge is that their youths always leave the town immediately after their education due to lack of employment in the town.
