"I'll bet they did. So that way is impossible. What about the coast ?"
"The West coast on the Yellow Sea is probably easier, but there are police patrol boats there all the time, day and night. There are fewer patrols on the Eastern coast, with the Sea of Japan, but the coast is very rocky and dangerous. Often they show us on TV what has happened to people who have tried to escape. Also there is the problem of getting there, because travel is restricted."
"No problem," I said. "Captain Jang said I could visit any radar stations I wanted, and some are bound to be on the coast. Look, he gave me this map, here is a station on a remote part of the Eastern coast. Lets plan my escape from there." She agreed is was probably the best place. "Oh, and can you get me some binoculars ?"

Good. Soon one of the many unknowns will be resolved - you, my dear.

Next day I suggested to Captain Jang some new experiments with the radar signals. These would take a couple of days to arrange, and give Moon Hee plenty of time to tell people about my escape plans. After these tests I told Captain Jang that I wanted to visit a radar station near the DMZ. No problem he said, and he arranged a permit for Moon Hee to drive me there the next day. Just as we were leaving I asked Captain Jang for a permit to go to a different radar station, and pointed on the map to the one I had told Moon Hee about. When we got there, I had a good look around, especially out to sea, but I could see no patrol boats or soldiers or anything. It was completely deserted and very peaceful. So, no-one was waiting to catch me, Moon Hee had not told anyone, and so she was not a spy, unless she was far cleverer than me.
