CHALLENGES

In its endeavour to execute its mandate there are a number of challenges which are not only limited to:

An inadequate material to distribute to the widows . The process of collection and pooling together of such resources is tedious in most cases.

Out of the 20 widows, 16 of the widows have no better houses for shelter. The houses are in poor condition and uncondusive for human stay/shelter. There are financial constraints for these widows to be helped construct better houses for living.

Healthcare services: there is need to offer quality healthcare for both the widows, orphans and the less fortunate in the community. This has been difficult to address due to lack of funds and even because of the fact that healthcare facilities are a far off from the community.
It is also important to note that there are a number in the category of orphans and widows that are both affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS. There is a great challenge in accessing quality healthcare and treatments, ARVs, HIV/AIDS care and support as well as HTC services. There is need for sponsors to fully come in support of this as a mitigation action to offer relief.

Fees for the orphans and needy students. As stated earlier in the achievements, there are a number of dire needy orphans who need financial support to aid their education. In order to execute this, there is need for funds to effectively run such programmes.

Sanitary towels for the girl child. It has been noted that most of the girls in the community and even under the program completely come from virtually poor homes that cannot offer or provide such personal effects to them.

Vulnerability of teenage mothers. Because of the high poverty rate in the community, most young girls get engaged in sexual activities which lead to high cases of early teenage pregnancies. Most of them after delivery are considered outcasts and liabilities to their families hence are not able to pursue their academic ambitions in life. There is need of response to this in a manner that will empower them and restore their hope in life through:
  1. Going back to school
  2. Vocational training
  3. Economic empowerment eg establishing IGAs for them as well as access to micro-finance loan schemes.
Challenges at the Kochola junior academy (discussed under the school profile)

NB: It’s important to note that most of the challenges revolve around financial constraints.

There is need of classrooms, clean pit latrines, Administration block etc.

Inadequate finance: the vision requires lots of finances for its full manifestation. So far a lot of things that need to be established, introduced and acquired have not been acquired because of lack of adequate finances.

Orphaned, poor and vulnerable pupils who cannot even afford uniform, books and other stationery.

Fees for orphans and vulnerable children. This remains an issue because the Proprietor is overwhelm by the high number of orphans. This calls for sponsorship programme for learning convenience of the pupils.

The Kochola junior academy and ophanage home at the moment runs a feeding program for orphans, the poor and vulnerable children/ pupils to enhance excellence and provide quality education. This includes both breakfast and lunch. However, this has been challenged by lack of adequate financial resources.Orphans in the orphanage are given three meals aday, clothes and other requirements like books etc

Inadequate games and sporting facilities

Transportation means of the pupils to and from school especially for those who are coming from far distances to reach the school. There is need for the school to acquire a transportation means (a school bus and a van). These would go far in improving the academic performance through trips and tours.

The Education Centre faces the challenge of lack of adequate text books, story books, atlases, and the information resources essential for provision of quality education. The number continues to grow drastically against the available books and information resources available.

Inadequate desks and furniture both for pupils and staff

High turnout thus constraining the available classrooms and buildings hence need to build more classrooms.

High rate of computer illiteracy in the community

Inadequate ICT (Information Communication Technology) facilities
